I was always told when I was younger that my mom made my name up it was a combination of my father's name Al and her name Regina. As a child this frustrated me because my name was never in any of the trinkets that you find in souvenir shops. Elaine - yes, Elena - yes, but Alaina - no. I hated my name because of this I wasn't like my peers in my class my name was made up and therefore meaningless so I thought in my young mind. It was only in my forties that I've started to appreciate my name how unique it was which made me difference from everyone else but still I would research the meaning here and there and I knew that it meant bright or shining one which was nice but didn't really resonate with me until recently. During my devotion time with Jesus he led me on and investigation into my name because my name is my identity. As I was asking him what does he call me what is my name to him I started googling and was led to name stories. When I entered my name into the site I really wasn't expecting for there to be anything specific about my name maybe Elaine or Helen but not Alaina. To my delight not only was my name available but the accuracy of the word cloud was spot-on. Years before maybe 10 years ago I was was that a women's retreat where a prophetic word was spoken about how I was a peacemaker. I didn't understand it at the time so it was something that I received but didn't really think about until as of late. So when I saw that one of the key words to describe me was peacemaker I was astonished, excited, and affirmed. In fact all of the words in the word cloud describe me and I felt so loved and special in that moment that I had to order a copy for myself so that I can hang it up on my wall and look at it everyday and remind myself this is what Jesus calls me - Alaina.
